Hodge Podge Wednesday

Today I'm linking up with Joyce and friends for another Hodge Podge Wednesday!

1. When was the last time you relocated? Did you move yourself or leave it to the professionals? Are you happy staying put or is there a move in your future? Best thing about moving to a new city or town? Least favorite and/or hardest thing about moving house?
I've never relocated.  The closest I've come is getting married and relocating from my parents' house to our new studio apartment as newlyweds.  We live in the same town that I grew up in.  And although we moved several times during our marriage, I have to say that I don't ever want to move again!

2. When were you last 'moved to tears'? Explain.
I'm reading Jodi Picoult's book, House Rules, and I've teared up a few times throughout it because of the mom, Emma's, feeling of helplessness with a child with Aspergers.  I've even read a few blog posts lately that had me welling up, but I can't remember which ones they were.

3. Do you have rules about eating in the car...any forbidden foods? What's the last thing you consumed in your car? Your go-to car snack when traveling long distance?
This question was rather funny for me because every. single. time. we buy a new car, Wayne's like, "Ok...we're not eating in the car.  No eating in the car. No drive thru in the car." That lasts about two weeks until I'm too dead on my feet to cook supper and we stop for fast food on the way home. Fried fast food. As for a go-to snack, I'd have to say it's M&Ms.  Before we hit the road, we stop for drinks and M&Ms.

4. Share a favorite song relating to cars and/or driving.
The first song that popped in my head was Cyndi Lauper's, "I Drove All Night" but I wouldn't call it a favorite.  I think the duet with Taylor Swift & Tim McGraw, "The Highway Don't Care" is a sexy kinda song.

5. What's your most frequently visited drive-thru...Starbucks? the bank? the pharmacy? some other window?
Sonic.  For a large Diet Coke with extra ice.

6. "He who hesitates is lost"...would you agree? When it comes to making decisions do you generally act quickly or do you more often than not fall into the 'lost' category?
I don't agree with that quote because for me, it depends on the situation and what it is.  However, I have found that the quicker I made a decision when I'm mad or upset, it's usually the wrong decision or something that I later regret. When it's big decisions related to our family, we normally take it slowly.

7. When was the last time you got lost? Was it stressful or an unexpected happy adventure?
The last time that comes to mind is getting lost for the Taylor Swift concert a few months ago in Shreveport.  And I really didn't get "lost" per se, except that we were trying to find a particular restaurant and I couldn't remember how to type in an actual address in my car's navigation system. Wayne and I are headed to New Orleans later today and there is always a place on the way home that we get turned around.  Hoping that doesn't happen on this visit.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
The highlights of my week so far have been sharing some pool time and just hanging out with some friends Sunday evening.  And this dip! Alise started a week of cheer camp on Monday. Like I said earlier, Wayne and I are headed to New Orleans later today and I'm looking forward to spending some time with my favorite guy in the world.  I'll be sure to post some pics on IG!

  1. It's funny how when we buy new cars we list the rules then after about a week or so, the rules are thrown out the window. I think we all do this. Enjoy the rest of your week with your "favorite guy."

  3. Have you ever seen the video for "The Highway Don't Care"? It is very emotional, and it has a great message. Pull it up on line! I'm a huge Tim McGraw fan - and I like Taylor too. Keith Urban plays guitar on it - he's amazing. I was fortunate to see all 3 of them perform the song together at the CMA Fest in Nashville 2 years ago. It was AWESOME!!

  4. The town I lived in until four years ago had TWO Sonics. Now the nearest one is a 45 minute drive away. The things I would do for a limeade or some onion rings...

and that dip sounds magical. I'll have to put it on our menu next week!

  5. Had to chuckle at your food in the car answer. Nothing gets rid of that wonderful new car smell like a bag of fries!! In my case, it was takeout Chinese. Oy vey!! Have a great day!

  6. I love the Taylor Swift/Tim McGraw song too. Hope you have a wonderful time in New Orleans and your daughter enjoys camp. I am a big fan of camp : ) I think this is the first day in a long long while we don't have any must-dos. Hoping to check out the pool here today.

  8. Hi Laura! You can probably see the Chris Farley documentary on demand if you have Comcast/infinity. Or on the spike website. I didn't know it was on till I was scrolling through the channels when there wasn't anything on Monday night and happened to see Tommy Boy was on. Hope you can find it, it was pretty good or they may re air it sometime.
That similar thing happened to me at a concert years ago, we couldn't find where we parked and we used the parking app. My aunt had visited Florida and we live in CA so the app somehow said we were parked in Florida. We weren't very amused. We ended up finding out car about an hour later.

  11. I think we're all the same when we get a new car - it has to stay clean and tidy but yet within a few weeks we drop the rules to fit in with our usual routines.

  12. Thanks for stopping by my blog for The Hogdgpodge. I enjoyed reading your answers. I love Sonic, but don't get to go there often (there isn't one near where I live).
I hope you and hubby enjoyed yesterday's trip!
