Working at home

Last year I went to the Sewing Summit.  It was a really exciting experience for me. I had never been to Salt Lake City before, and I got to take classes from bloggers I had followed for years! YEARS!

This year I didn't get to go.  Something about blowing my allowance on fabric every month, and buying a house, and take a week long vacation to Hawaii.... it just wasn't going to happen this year.  Its okay though, amylouwho(who I met last year at the summit, eee), has organized a pity party via her blog and on Instagram for all of us not attending this year.  We are all working along at home, pretending we don't feel super left out.

Left out or not I have been pretty productive lately!  I have my 20 dresden blades assembled (I need to blow my allowance on my background fabric this month).  I also assembled a couple of quilt backings yesterday.
Which led to the Big and Bright Quilt finally basted.
My wonky nine-patch top was basted also....

While I'm not sewing late in the Baby Lock room this weekend  *sniff *sniff... I am really enjoying my sewing room in our new home.  The hubs made me a big cutting/pressing table and I am seriously in love... with the man and the table.  The top still needs to be painted, but the unpainted surface works just fine for now.
It is a dream.  It is huge.  It will be pretty once the top is painted.  It makes a little carport for my quilt rack.

*Please pardon my basted quilts heaped at the machine.

The other side has mucho storage!  Hidden storage if someone is just walking by.

The end cabinets have mucho storage also.  Seriously.

 Seriously!

Okay imagine the top white, but please notice ALL OF THAT ROOM!   That is a 24 x 36 cutting mat!  There is plenty of room on the table top (which is a door by the way)

Okay I'll quit going on and on, but it helps me feel better about missing the Baby Lock sewing room.  Ill be working this weekend.  Hopefully getting those two quilted.  Maybe starting a new project, or perhaps starting a Christmas gift... maybe.  We are going to a Rapid City Rush hockey game tonight.  I will be cheering but no doubt thinking about my sewing plan for Saturday!

  3. What a beautiful place and great idea to make such a huge cutting table with the closets under the table! This is an idea that I have to keep in mind for the future! I have a very tiny sewing corner right now.
