Rainy

 

Had gone to a big flea market along the Y on Sunday with nice weather when suddenly, out of nowhere, a tremendous downpour erupted. Luckily I had a waterproof camera with me only I myself had no coat or umbrella . On the last picture you see my standing place to avoid the wet weather. After about 20 minutes it was over and I could continue my way.

A one day visit.

Away with the road

 There must be a need for it, but why the entire road from Almere harbor over the dike to the Hollandse brug has to be redone is beyond me. Nice weather for it though hence this one for Skywatch Friday here.

Trouble again

 Because the ground in Almere is still settling, problems with the sewage system arise all the time, such as here under the bus lane near our house. Wells are subsiding and pipes are breaking off. You have to put up with that if you are building on land that was water 57 years ago.

On the way back

 The bus had to make a detour back home and I knew we would then pass by this draft barge with horses in front of it. With the camera at the ready I got exactly one chance. One for Sami's Colourful World here.

Graduation show again

From the glass department floor lamps with replaceable glass casings in several colors and forms..

Wood sawdust held together by glue and molded into any shape as a material to make furniture etc.

And at an art school you can expect to find some very colorful characters walking around too although this student had made up for a happening that would take place later in the afternoon.

At times the spectators were quite bewildered with the thought of what am I actually watching.

Graduation show

 A fourth-year photographer photographs the work of  graduating candidate Lujza Kramarova from the Rietveld Academy.

Eva Mels ( Instagram: @vandalismels) explains to onlookers how she made a complete analog transition from digital images through photographing, developing and printing.

 Using Ai, the nonexistent fossils have been transformed into an analog negative that will never look identical when reproduced.

Remembering

 Today 20 years ago we stood for this museum in Bilbao from Frank Gehry. Quite an experience. (Header the market square in Almere town and  because we get a week with temperatures above 30° C I am trying to keep a cool head by looking at this photo.)

Apartment building in Amsterdam North by Moke Architecten

A newly completed neighborhood (in the style of the western islands of around 1650) in Weespersluis location Vechtwijk}. Nowadays also belonging to the municipality of Amsterdam. True originality in building residential neighborhoods is hard to find these days. (Architects Mulleners and Mulleners)

Modern classic

Get back on track

 Boat sails through the churn lock (Kolksluis)  toward the Y. The first use of this lock dates back to 1425 with a modification in 1431 and the last refurbishment in 1986.
