It’s time once again for some Friday fill-in fun, the perfect way to wrap up the week and kick off the weekend! The hubby started his summer break earlier this week – so I’m a little late getting to this, which means I’m in a hurry and discombobulated on which day of the week it is…heh! I’ll get there!

From Ann of McGuffy’s Reader:

“The Friendly Fill-Ins are four fun and easy statements to complete. Ellen of 15andmeowing provides the first two statements and the final two are offered by myself. We try to make sure they will be fun to both answer and share. On Friday, the linky will be posted at or about 12:00 AM. Please come back, link up, and share your thoughts!”

And away we go! Here are this week’s statements with my fill-ins:

Week 15: August 19, 2016

1. When I run out of sugar, I use honey instead. Or applesauce – depending on what I’m baking or making at the time.

Honey

2. My guru is… Hmmmm… I don’t actually have one! Maybe I need to get one. Any suggestions? Oh wait! Maybe I could channel Chef Gordon Ramsay – since I sometimes do when I’m creating an amazing gourmet meal. Sometimes I even mentally curse at myself if I make a mistake…heh!

GordonRamsay

I actually wrote a blog post a million years ago about channeling Gordon Ramsay – it’s a fun read if you have the time. I really need to get back into writing posts like that again.

3. I am afraid of… SPIDERS!!! Doesn’t matter how big or small, they freak me out. I had one charge at me that I wrote about – you should check out that story. I dare you.

4. I feel empowered… this one is still a work in progress – so my answer is ‘to be continued’, or ‘to be determined’.

That’s a wrap! Hope you join in the fun! As a side note, we were off camping last weekend with absolutely positively no internet connection (believe me, I tried – even had my Karma with me to try to connect) so I’m way behind making the rounds for last week – I’ll be rectifying that later.

  1. Thank you for joining in the fill-ins, great answers. I like spiders so I am afraid to read of the one that charged at you. I am sure honey or applesauce is healthier for you than sugar too. Have a great weekend!

  2. Applesauce is a great substitute for sugar, and makes what you are baking more moist, too.

As for me, i love spiders, so i read the story and while i understand you were afraid, i do feel sorry for spiders when they get squished. When i see them, i take them outside.

  3. I don’t do spiders either!

I think without evening have met you that you are a force not to be messed with and someone I’d love to be around because the energy you give off would be empowering 😉

    Have a great weekend!

  4. I can understand being afraid of a spider that is charging at you. I’m not afraid of them, but more mad at them for turning on me. Years ago, I would have David put them outside. Then, one day one bit me. Okay, so I decided to stop being nice since they decided to snack on me. Now, if they are in the house, I squish ’em. If they are outside and not posing a threat to me or my family, they can live.

I don’t know what kind that first chomper was, but it left a target on my leg. That was back in South Carolina. I have since been bitten several times by brown recluse spiders here in Texas. I apparently developed an immunity of sorts after the first recluse bite because they don’t open up and get all gross anymore. Thank goodness! I thought that I was going to die with that first recluse bite.

I think that Gordon is a cool chef, but wish he wasn’t such a potty mouth.

I think that honey and applesauce are great sugar substitutes. 🙂

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Honey and applesauce are great healthy substitutes for sugar in many things! I will have to go read your Gordon Ramsey post, he is quite a character! Spiders don’t really bother me, but I detest mice if they get in the house because they are so dirty, and I am terrified of snakes! Empowerment seems to be a tougher issue for most of us, we need to all support and uplift each other more!

  6. Yep, Suzanne appears to be “spider bait”. My nephew appears to be “snake bait”. In fact, my daughter calls her cousin, “Snake Bait”. Gordon can be cool, but many of his shows get a little raunchy.

  7. Hi Stacy, This ones a nice post, i follow your blog regularly. Honey and spider – 2 extremes i must say. I hope you dont run into any spiders though

  8. Stacy, you crack me up. I am afraid of spiders, too. I had a nightmare about them the summer I was 12, when I had rheumatic fever. I can vividly remember the nightmare, too. *augh* I have had them charge me, challenge me, and also threaten me with their legs up in the air. Are you kidding me. Squish. Done. HE77 , NO.
I always read the fill-ins on Friday and then get back to them to comment. Weekends are so hectic right now, but will settle down as we get into Fall. Thank you for participating in the Friendly Fill-Ins. We appreciate your participation. Hugs.
