Hedgehog Craft for Kids - Paper Craft for Children

A couple of weeks ago my boys and I attended an adorable animal presentation at our local library.

During the presentation, a couple of kids (including my oldest – Vman) were invited to come up, close their eyes, put their hands out and guess what animal they were touching.

Turns out… they were touching a hedgehog.

And if you haven’t seen a hedgehog in person, then you haven’t experienced how ridiculously adorable these creatures are!

Seriously.. couldn't you just melt from the cuteness?

Making this hedgehog craft is quite easy.

I’m going to show you have we made our own hedgehog crafts (which we turned into mini puppets as well).

Materials Needed:

Hedgehog Craft Materials

Directions:

Step 1: Take your card stock and draw out an outline of a hedgehog.

You can see mine as an example — it’s a fairly simple shape and doesn’t have to be perfect.

Step 2: Cut out the hedgehog shape. Don’t worry about cutting it perfectly. The leaves will cover much of the outline.

Step 3: Put a dot of glue on the back of a leaf and place it on the hedgehog. You want the leaves to overlap to create a full set of “fur” for your hedgehog.

Step 4: When you’re done adding the leaves, draw a little mouth and eyes.

Step 5: Glue on a pom pom for the nose. And you’re done!

Step 4: If you want to turn it into a hand-help puppet, grab a craft stick and tape it to the back. (Glue doesn’t stick as well — you’ll have better luck with tape.)
