Hello. Thank you for being here. Welcome to my site, built with my readers in mind. I hope you’ll enjoy the posts here – current and past – and check out my publications on the ‘Works’ page.
You can keep up to date with new stories and characters by signing up to my bi-monthly newsletter or trawl through some of my travel adventures in the ‘Blog’ section.
Some time ago, my husband created a little sign for me (after I’d received a devastating critique of a short story.) The note reads, “Successful writers exist because of their critics.” I keep it on my writing desk.
Be that critic.
I paid attention to the feedback I’d received, changed the way I wrote and found a whole new audience.
I’d love to hear your comments on any of my stories – what I’ve done right or what I can improve. Then my stories can be even better.
Come and say hello by clicking on any of the social links above or the ‘Get in Touch’ button. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
In the meantime, here’s some information about me:
My writing name is . . .
Caenys Kerr
I write . . .
contemporary romance, both mild and spicy, as novels, novellas and short stories.
I grew up . . .
around Queensland, Australia, with five sisters. We lived in places like Clermont, Brisbane, Rosewood and Rockhampton. Although I have lived outside the State for my adult life (in Canberra, New Zealand, New South Wales, Victoria and most recently shuffling between New South Wales and Tasmania,) I am still a Queenslander at heart.
I’m married . . .
to David and have been for nearly 50 years. We raised two children to adulthood, so now we have them, their partners and our grandson to complete our immediate family.
I can’t live without . . .
books or travel, domestic or international. I read eclectically: all forms of romance; and most anything else except horror. As for travel, the anticipation of fresh sights, sounds, food and perspectives is my catnip.
I can live without . . .
tripe, both kinds – the stuff Mum expected us to eat when we were children; and the verbiage some media portrays as informed commentary.
I’m usually hanging out . . .
in coffee shops, especially those with walls covered by bookshelves and serving cheesecake.
My biggest dream growing up . . .
was to be a doctor, a pathologist actually. I earned the Doctor title—as a PhD, rather than a medico.
I collect . . .
miniature china plates and china thimbles.
My favourite picture book . . .
Animalia by Graeme Base
My favourite children’s novel . . .
Pastures of the Blue Crane by Hesba Brinsmead
My favourite adult novels . . .
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, anything by Anna Campbell, Anne Gracie, Catherine McCullagh, Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly or Georgette Heyer.
My biggest secret . . .
I wish I’d become a light aircraft pilot.
