Some amazing uses for Mayonnaise.

Now most of us have Mayonnaise in our refrigerator, where it is used for sandwiches and cooking. I  told you a few months back about the little tip I discovered about turning your jar upside down, Yes. Keep your mayonnaise jar upside down and all of the mayonnaise stays at the lid. No more mayonnaise knuckles! Well, today I found some cool ideas I would like to share with you.

Remove Tree Sap, Coat the sap with mayonnaise, let it set for a few minutes, then wipe away with a clean rag.

Remove a ring from a swollen knuckle. Coat the ring with mayonnaise then gently slip off the finger.

Remove crayon marks from walls. If you have washable paint, coat the crayon marks with mayonnaise, in a couple of minutes wipe both mayo and crayon off with a damp cloth.

Remove dust from house plants. Dab a small amount of mayo on a paper towel and gently wipe the leaves of the plant. They will be dust free and have a beautiful shine.

Use mayo to wipe away fingerprints from stainless steel.

Place a dab of mayonnaise on a cloth and rub it into a squeaky hinge. Move door back and forth a few times. Squeak is gone.

Use mayonnaise to remove water rings from wooden furniture. Apply a small amount of mayo and rub in well with a clean cloth. Let set a minute then polish away the water stain.

Use mayonnaise to remove price tags from glassware. Wipe a small amount over the price tag, let set for a minute. It will loosen the tag and you can then peel it clean off.

When cleaning up wet paint splatters, use a drop of mayo to make the job easier. It will help loosen up the paint and clean-up will be a breeze.

Coffee Coffee Coffee

It's that time of year again! Now if you're like me, you can drink coffee anytime. But this time of year, a hot cup of coffee is one of life's small treasures. I want to share with you a couple of things that I keep on hand during the cold months. My sinful indulgence is Star Bucks Morning Joe. This is a rich, bold coffee with no bitterness. And the best part is I can brew it at home! I love coffee shop coffee while I'm still in my pajamas! If you have followed my Blog then you already know that I don't endorse many products. And I don't get paid for any of it, trust me! But this coffee is amazing. I urge you to try it.

Now, I have my special cup od coffee. And I love it just like it is, but sometimes I want to really indulge myself, so I add a bit of Coffee Mate's Caramel Macchiato. Now these two together is just a little slice of heaven! If you love coffee then you have to try this! I wouldn't tell you how good it is if I didn't think you would love it as much as I do. But, if you buy these and don't love them, send them to me. I'll drink it for you! (Smiles)

My Southern Living

I was thumbing through the Christmas edition of Southern Living and seeing page after page of decadent holiday desserts. They were all so beautiful, so I thumb to the back to look at the recipes. Some of these seemed to have twenty ingredients, things I  have never heard of and couldn't even pronounce with roughly a seven step process. What? For Christmas cookies?

I don't know about you, but I don't have the time to do cookies like this for Christmas. And I don't have time to order strange ingredients from a New York market. My Granny would turn over in her grave. What in the world does this have to do with Southern cooking? Southern Christmas cookies was my Granny using her own milk, eggs, and butter to make sugar cookies. Southern cooking was my granny making popcorn balls with her own molasses. Now don't get me wrong, I adore my Southern Living magazine. But this just struck me as wrong. So, it has now inspired me to write my own true Southern cookbook. I want simple recipes, things like my mother and grandmother use to make. I want to know how to make some awesome and quick sugar cookies. I want to know how to make a quick dressing while I simmer my gravy. I want to know how granny seasons her cast iron frying pan, I want to know what granny did if the gravy was too thick or too thin. I want to know what the real southern women did in their kitchens, not just for the holidays but all year long. So follow me on this journey of creating the perfect southern cookbook that our southern grandmother's would be proud of. And thank you Southern Living for the inspiration. I truly do adore you!

Tips & Tricks

I  try to to spend as little as possible on cleaning products. So here are a few things I like to do to save money and keep the house clean.

My go to bottle. I keep a mixture bleach and pine cleaner in a spray bottle for my kitchen and bathroom touch ups.( 1/4 cup bleach and 1/4 cup pine cleaner. fill the rest with water.) This is perfect if the five-year-old grandson misses the potty. Or if  I'm working with chicken in the kitchen. It kills germs on contact and smells amazing. The whole family grabs this bottle for quick clean ups.

Have you noticed the price of laundry detergent? I have! I have tried these homemade laundry detergents and just can't find one that cleans as well or smells as fresh as my Gain. So, to make it go further I mix half Gain and half Baking soda. Since I have started doing this I have noticed my laundry is brighter, stains come out quicker and the clean smell lasts twice as long.

Don't you hate it when you get to the bottom of the mayonnaise jar and you have to scrape that last little bit out? You never can seem to get it all and you wind up with most of it on your knuckles. Start keeping the jar upside down. Just tilt it sideways to use and then put it away upside down. All of the mayonnaise will run to the lid, even the last little bit.

Now I love air fresheners, candles, wax melts, plugins you name it.But over the last couple of years the plugins have become somewhat pricey. So unless I am expecting guests and want my house to really smell good. I opt out of using the expensive stuff and I just spray my furniture and rugs with Lysol spray about three times a week. It keeps the house smelling clean and fresh. Also when I change the beds I spray the mattress and pillows with Lysol. It smells amazing and kills and germs that may be lurking.

My shower has a pull-up diverter to change the water from the bathtub to the shower. Sometimes this thing gets tight and won't pull up. I have learned that cutting a lemon in half and pushing down over the plug will cause it to work beautifully. Just cut the lemon and push it onto the plug, leave it on overnight. The next day the diverter will be easier to use. You may have to do this a couple of times. But it works!
