Hodge Podge Wednesday

Link up to Hodge Podge Wednesday!  Go HERE for all the deats!

1. April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes. Are you blooming where you're planted as we begin the month of May?
It's funny that you ask this question!  This week is Teacher Appreciation week at Alise's school and she normally takes a small gift to her teachers every day.  On the first day, she always takes flowers to her teachers with a note saying, "Thanks for helping me bloom!"  This year when I had her write out the card, she gave me this look like, "Really, mom?  Really?!"  Okay.  So the cute stuff doesn't work anymore but how many other moms remembered to send something yesterday morning just coming back from Easter Break?  Huh?

2. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being no big deal, and 10 being full scale panic, rank your fear of spiders.
I have a low fear factor of spiders.  Maybe a two.  I saw one outside the other night by the pool and squished it with my shoe.  Problem solved.  No biggie.

3. May is National Salad Month (who knew???)...besides lettuce, what are two must-have ingredients in your favorite salad?
LOVE salads!!  Especially in the summer!  I made a new salad this past weekend and just when I think my family won't like it, they gobble it up!  I made a BLT/cobb salad this weekend, but I didn't use the lemon vinaigrette the recipe called for.  Something about lemon and lettuce just doesn't sound good to me.  So.  My two must haves are CHEESE and some type of MEAT!  Ham or bacon will usually do.

4. I mentioned on my blog last week that my Daughter1 will be moving to Washington State after she is married. Of the following sites in the Northwest, which would you most like to see in person-Crater Lake (Oregon), Seattle (Washington), Vancouver (British Columbia), San Juan Islands (Washington),  Mt. Rainer (Washington) Oregon Coast (Oregon), Mt. St. Helens (Washington), or Olympic National Park (Washington)
Seattle.  That needle thingy.  I'd like to see that.  And due to third grade, I now remember that Olympia is the capital of Washington.

5. This coming weekend marks the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby...when did you last race (literally or figuratively) to cross a finish line?
So thankful for this reminder!!  Alise LOVES to watch the horse races when they're on TV.  We will have to catch this one fer sure!  I would LOVE to go just to wear a HAT!  My finish line is in 2.5 weeks:  the end of third grade homework!!

6. What is something little you love?
PASTA!
{Opps!  I was just proof reading and realized I misread the question.  But I'm sticking with pasta anyway.  I need a carb fix!}

7. Would you say you are more of a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner? Elaborate.
Visual.  Wayne gets so upset with me when he's telling me how to do something and I just can't picture it in my head.  I'm like, "show me what you're talking about!"

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
I woke up thinking today is the day that the Lord has made.  I will rejoice and be glad in it!

  1. I know the teachers appreciated the sweet gifts even if your daughter felt too 'grown up' for the clever card. :) Good luck with finishing the third grade homework race!

  2. I always like looking at pictures of all the Derby hats. So pretty! Too bad women no longer wear hats to go to church. I think I could enjoy that.

Love your random thought! What a great way to start the day.

    Blessings~
