WOYWW: Take Courage!

2nd Wednesday and I have a 2nd project on my desk!
This time it is an angel made of book paper
coated with acrylic medium.
I wanted to see if I could make anything
out of this that people would actually buy!

I need livelihood projects for some of the victims
of Typhoon Haiyan who are displaced from their
hometowns and are now here in Manila.
I need a project that's quick and easy to do
and will need no capital and no particular skills!
Any hope for this angel?
I think she needs a pocket to put a message in,
like a love note for Valentine!

Today I read about the disciples who were terrified
when Jesus walked on the water
toward them during a storm
in the 6th Chapter of Mark.
When what I want to draw is beyond my
technical capabilities,
I like to trace and this is what I did here.

Although some would say that tracing is not art,
I learn a lot by tracing
and I do it A LOT!

Jesus said to the disciples,
"Take courage, it is I,
do not be afraid!" Mark 6:50
When we are scared of drawing,
this is the perfect way to overcome it-
take a picture you like,
and trace it on a nice background with carbon paper!
But if you like a challenge,
here's a free downloadable book for you!
Moonlight Creations is offering a free
200 page book with step by step
instructions!

When I was young, my father had a boat
and once he took my family out to sea.
Unfortunately although the day started out fine,
when we were way out,
the wind became strong
and I thought we were going to die!
I started to panic and pray.
But I looked at my father and he was
so calm as if there was nothing to worry about.

So I felt better, and my panic dissipated.
When we are in the midst of any
terrifying storm,
if we look at the circumstances,
we can panic and feel afraid.
But if we look at Jesus
knowing He can calm any storm,
we will be at peace,
the "peace beyond understanding".

Right now, some of you know my family
is in the midst of a storm.
My mother is so desperately ill.
So weak it is painful to witness.
If I look at how she is,
and realize that no doctor can cure her,
I can panic and be terrified.
But I look to God who created her and loves her,
and took care of her the whole of her life,
and I know that His will is the very best for her!

"In this is love: not that we have loved God,
but that He loved us." 1 John 4:10

If we really KNEW that God loves us,
 nothing else would matter.
Whatever happens in our life,
especially challenges and trials,
we would know that this will pass
and we will endure and triumph
and be blessed and be a blessing.
If we don't know in our heart that
 God loves us unconditionally,
what should we do?
We should repeat this truth, "God loves me!"
 repeatedly  to ourselves
until it gets written in our heart!

  6. Tracing is a great way of starting off a piece. You make it your own with what you do it after the tracing.
I'll keep you and your Mum in my thoughts.
    Happy Wednesday
