Completing Him Challenge Week #3-Praying and Fasting for your husband

Do you believe prayer changes things?  I hope you do.

James 5:17 says "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."

I firmly believe in the power of prayer.  I’ve seen how prayer works in both my own life as well as the lives of friends and family.  Praying for my husband is something I definitely NEED to be doing.  I love the suggestions that Courtney over at Women Living Well has for this week.  So let me share her list with you.  Please join me in praying for your own husband.  It’s important.

1. His Wife-ummmm, that’s me-LOL.  But you know what?  It’s important to pray that you be the wife and mother that Christ has called you to be.  This is your job…pray for yourself.  I want to be like Christ in my job as wife and mom.  I want to model Him so that my children will model Him.  With that ever present sin-nature in my heart, I *need* prayer.

2. His Work-my husband is a US Soldier.   I need to pray for him everyday in every situation he might come in contact with.

3. His Finances-I think this should read OUR finances.  I actually handle this in our marriage.  It’s easier for me to handle them in our marriage.  I am not likely to forget to pay the phone bill!  Pat has more important things to concentrate on than piddly bills.  We make ALL financial decisions together.  If something costs more than $50, I check with him before I buy.  We discuss things as a couple.  (exception…the groceries-those quite frequently go above $50 LOL)

4. His Sexuality-cough, cough…sputter….ok.  blush

5. His Affections

6. His Temptations-even if you think you have Mr. Perfect, pray for this anyway.  Trust me.  Pray.  He’s human and has a sin nature.  Pray.

7. His Mind

8. His Fears

9. His Purpose

10. His Choices

11. His Health-I want mine to be around for quite a long time!

12. His Protection-yep, again, I want him to be around for a LONG time.

13. His Trials

14. His Integrity

15. His Reputation

16. His Priorities-yes…I want to pray for his priority list

17. His Relationships

18. His Fatherhood

19. His Past

20. His Attitude

21. His Marriage

22. His Emotions

23. His Walk

24. His Talk

25. His Repentance-my husband isn’t saved, this one is foremost on my mind.   We’ve made GREAT progress in this area.  He now attends church AND sometimes he even talks about the sermon!

26. His Deliverance

27. His Obedience

28. His Self-Image

29. His Faith

30. His Future-changing this one to OUR future, as we have a future together

I recommend you print out this list and pray over it daily this week.  HMMMM, my printer is not only packed up but it’s one of the things we lost in the fire, so I’ll have to write this one out.  ;)

Courtney says:

Like a string around your finger reminding you of something important, let your wedding ring be a reminder to pray this week. I want you to pray every time you look down and see your wedding ring. When you take your ring off to wash dishes or shower - say a sentence prayer for your husband. When you are sitting watching television, reading a book or typing on your computer and your ring flashes your way - say a sentence prayer for your husband. Make it a habit to pray for your husband.

Bonus this week:

Fast this week for your husband.

Thank you so much for this post. I particularly like the wedding band as a string around the finger. Spiritually I feel sometimes like he is so much stronger than I am. I need to work on being strong for him.

I like how you laid out what you're praying for. I need to get back into being more detailed in my prayer.

Thanks for visiting my blog. : ) Yes, God does answer prayer - I'm so glad you have that in mind with your recent tragedy. I'll be praying for your family!
