Take a Step Back!!!

We have all been on the brink
Some more than others
What stops is overthinking
What makes us take that step too is the same
When life holds no meaning
The thought of pain you leave behind resurfaces
Take a step back

When going gets tougher
Being on the ledge seems the only option
No happy memory comes to the mind
Yet the faces is all you see
Take a step back

It’s all worthless in the end
Everyone would forget you someday
The passing thought of a distant someone knocks
Take a step back

Some would be troubled
Some more than others
The pain will leave a deep gash
Think if the thoughts give you that space
Take a step back

Life isn’t going to be beautiful
The pain and struggles would still hang on to you
Shout scream whisper but call out
Take a step back and be around.

Please…

Never free

Break the shackles, they said
It’s safe out here, they said
Be free, be wild, do as your heart wills
No judgements, they said
The winds blew steady
The water was flowing silently
The birds chirped happily
The sky was clear
It’s a good day to break out, they said
Burst your bubble, let go of the fear
There is a safety net, there is a hand to hold on to
Have faith and trust, they said
Be free, fly high, live your dreams
Why trap in there, they said
She looked out from the peephole
All seemed as they said
What harm could it be?
What’s there to lose?
One fine beautiful day she tug hard and the shackles broke
She could smell freedom
Courage empowered her to burst that bubble around
She stepped out
Her eyes adjusted to the bright and dreary light
They were nowhere in sight
She had no place to be
Stranded in that unknown unfamiliar place
Whom to call out, what to hold onto
With no glimmer of hope
What was lost was her self
The cost paid seemed heavy
All that was left was wallowing in self pity
By night fall the last of the thread of trust withered too
All that she had was to wait to be the Phoenix and rise up from the ashes
For the night was long and full of terrors.

Chronicles of Mom

I walked into this empty space with a fear of stepping onto the creaking floor, only to realize that unlike at home this space is imaginery and I needn’t walk on eggshells anymore. Trust me, having a little human in the house does that to you.

I haven’t switched on the televison or played a video without headphones in past few months now. It’s such a relief knowing that I can even scream without being afraid of waking or scaring the baby. (Ofcourse that screaming bit was a metaphor as it’s all about words than the voices.)

Ahhh.. Such a relief penning those paragraphs down. Its been, what seems a like an eon, since I had written something meaningful. But this time it’s all about the new phase of life; about being a mom.

It’s funny how inspiration strikes without a proper notice. Mine struck while I was partly sleepy, feeding my boy and I began painting a passionate canvas in the confined spaces of my little brain.

Before I transition from Mom into Momosaur (eventually), I incline on showcasing my chronicles to the unknown.

Ours is a beautiful love story. It was meant to be a love at first sight but it happened just the way John Green mentions it in ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ – “I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once”. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my little one to bits from the moment I laid eyes on him, but guess my emotions were clouded by the impending fear of handling a tiny (not so) and seemingly fragile baby. Love that happened, came a little slow to me.

Every little cry, a sneeze, a cough had me jump out and fawning over him with worry. I am sure my baby has a world to get accustomed to, but that’s not all. I wasn’t ready per se to be a mother but after 4 months and 14 days today, I can proudly say that I am fully ready to be a mom to my little dinosaur.

P.s. To all the moms and ofcourse dads out there, may your little one sleep through the night and you too enjoy a peaceful night before the storm awakens at dawn.

Review : When Dimple Met Rishi

It’s been a while since I have written anything, so hope this book review is good enough to fill that gap. 😉

Book : When Dimple Met Rishi

Author : Sandhya Menon

Publisher : Hodder & Stoughton Ltd.

Pages : 380

ISBN : 978 1 473 66740 2 (Paperback)

Story in short :

“When Dimple Met Rishi” is a story of Dimple and Rishi.

Meet Dimple – Her aim in life is to escape her traditional parents, get to university and begin her plan for tech-world domination.

Meet Rishi – He’s rich, good-looking and a hopeless romantic. His parents think Dimple is the perfect match for him, but she’s got other plans…

Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But sometimes when opposites clash, love works even harder to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

Review:

I am usually not up for cliche romances, but found myself reading this book. This book gives you hope for something intelligent, something out of the ordinary. But to no avail.

The author seems to be derailing on the plot front, which I thought would be more focused on the work Dimple and Rishi do together to develop the app than merely focus on the Bollywood masala dance.

This a predictable story. It is promising you for some rich romantic experience but only to get disappointed with the the fact that you already have figured it out in less than 100 pages.

If this is your first YA romance book or you are in your teens, you might enjoy this light book. However after having access to the vast expanse of the rich literature out there, I feel this book just doesn’t do the justice.

Well if I think of ending it on a good note, then maybe I would say that if you jump into the book without any expectations then you might even get through the book by liking it a bit.

Enjoy!

My honest rating : 2/5
