AfterLunch = Eternity

I work a wide variety of shifts, with start times as early as 4 a.m. and as late as 3 p.m., but I always think of my midshift break as "lunch" whether it occurs at 8 a.m. or 7 p.m. or any time in between. The problem comes in the portion of the day I like to call AfterLunch. This segment of my day seems to last for an eternity. Not that I'm being all that productive in this little pocket of purgatory, quite the opposite. It seems like any task I undertake is doomed to be interrupted to the point of negative progress. Plus, all time measuring instruments seem to slow down or reverse. If it feels, subjectively, like I've spent 15 minutes answering questions about someone else's job or department, then the clock will tell me that only 3 minutes have passed.

A is for Agriculture.

Just a bit early to direct sow, we had frost two nights ago and could have some more. So far, I have starter trays going with, in no particular order: string beans, spinach, watermelon, pumpkin, bell pepper (color mix), peas, arugula and zucchini squash. For direct sowing, after I get the garden beds worked this week: carrots (mixed variety) beets and corn. I also have live starts for romaine lettuce, brussels sprouts and a striped heirloom tomato. Needless to say, I have a mighty hankering for gardening this year. Will also do herbs in pots, once I figure out what pots I have out in the shed.

A to Z Challenge

Step 1.  Actually have a blog.  (check)

Step 2.  Post something based on the letter A.

A is for Autism and Asperger's.  I don't have either, but I would probably been diagnosed with some version as a child, if I had been born 30 years later than I was.  I have been tested and deemed a fairly functional adult, with a few tendencies in the Asperger's spectrum.  That being said, I have a lot of empathy and for those who deal with the true manifestations of these syndromes.

I encounter many challenges dealing with regular day to day life, most as a result of those Asperger's like traits I possess.  Usually, with a bit of thought and analysis of a situation, I can find or develop a coping strategy.  When I consider how much worse my quirks could be, I tip my hat in respect to those who face much tougher challenges.
