Whoa...

It is almost Thanksgiving....
and I have so much to be thankful for.
Mostly these two kiddos, keeping me very busy and very happy!
I got this fortune cookie a month or so ago...
Yup... this about sums it up!

What are you thankful for this year?

Busy

Sometimes life gets super busy.... with little (or no) time to just relax.
So much has happened and changed in our lives recently.
I'll blog about it all soon!
(Go ahead... start clapping with Benjamin, you know you are excited! Wait, what? There is no one out there reading anymore.... oh well....)

Fridge Magnets

The other day Benjamin discovered fridge magnets!
He crawled from the dinning room, stood up along the cabinets and cruised his way over to the fridge. He was very proud of himself!
Now he really loves playing in the kitchen....

Such a happy little guy!

Progress

This is what our backyard looked like when we bout our house a couple years ago.
After ripping out those old overgrown bushes, this is how our backyard looked with my "to-do" notes...
After more work here is what it looked like last spring....
What a mess. It got worse before it got better!

After a lot of hard work...

including:

getting rid of the tree in the back left corner
getting rid of the ivy (all over)
removing the bed of weeds in the back left
putting down grass seed

and that is just naming a few things...

this is how our back yard looked this spring.
and now...
Not perfect and a lot more to do... but wow, I love seeing the progress.

Need to do some edging around the sidewalk.
I'd like to point out the crap growing through the fence on the right is from the neighbor's messy yard!

We planted a peach tree in the back too!  Our garden has been producing lots of tomatoes, a ton of lettuce, a ton of basil, still waiting on carrots and we even have some corn! It was certainly trial and error and my husband is already thinking of ideas on how to make it better next year.  The garden is his project and he has done an amazing job on the garden and the yard this year!

I can't wait to see how it looks next year! Slowly but surely coming along.

Splish Splash

Benjamin loves his bath and water day at school.  It was no surprise he loved the pool!
The weather was on the cooler side and the water was cold so I didn't even bring his suit or swim diaper because I didn't think anyone would be swimming.
Benjamin dabbed his little feet.
He clutched the ball and watched.... not really sure if he liked the cold water.
Eventually, he decided he loved it!
Then he just wanted to sit in the water and play!
He had a great time watching his big sister swim.
Chloe had fun making some waves as she twirled around.
I hope we get some summer-like weather again to take him swimming.... Typically August is the hottest month but it has been very mild thus far.
Benjamin had a great time splashing away!
And just for fun... here is another cute picture from the same day!
My cuties!

Anything is Possible

I have always wanted to like running. Somehow it never quite seemed right for me.
This would be the only thing that would get me going...
This year was different. I started the Couch to 5k program in June. I finally started to enjoy running. The program was perfect for beginners.  For extra motivation, I signed up for my first 5k a couple weeks after I was scheduled to complete the C25K program.

Then, mid-July I injured myself (piriformis syndrome I believe).
I had to cross train for about a month because it hurt too bad to run. Then a week before my scheduled 5k I only squeezed in two runs!

Somehow, yesterday... not only did I complete my first 5k...

I did it in 29:31!
It felt amazing!
The 5k was held in the evening at a local vineyard.
My family came out to watch, cheer me on and then we had a nice picnic and listened to the live band!

It was certainly fun with little Benjamin now that he is moving all over the place.

He also had very little interest in his boring baby food and just wanted our food!

Chloe had a great time playing with Benjamin

and running around, showing us how fast she can run!
It was a great accomplishment and a wonderful feeling making my family proud of me!
(I never, ever, in a million years thought I would run a 5k)
I told Chloe I ran the 5k to show her that you can do anything you set your mind to!
I know it may not seem like a huge feat to many of you... but I've always said running a 5k was one of my life goals!
Another wonderful goal I reached this week... my weight loss goal of losing 50lbs. I've lost an entire Chloe since December.
I couldn't have accomplished these goals without the love and support from my wonderful husband!

I am already looking forward to my next 5k. There is one next month at the zoo that sounds like it will be fun!
