Happenings Lately-March

Hey, I'm still here! Here's some of what I was up to last month.
We're loving our new hometown and daily walks to the beach.
I thought this was a suspicious grouping of shells and I left them alone.

I have been obsessed with finding sea glass. This was a particularly good day for it!
We went to a local St. Patrick's Day Parade and had great seats right on the parade route. Green beer was a must!
I tried Andrea via Julie's 3 Ingredient Egg Bake. I used more egg whites in mine because I didn't have enough eggs. It still turned out well, it just needed longer to cook. It doesn't look pretty but it was tasty!
We saw another bald eagle on one of our walks!!
We celebrated a soon to be mom in our family at a sweet baby shower.
The girls were home for less than 24 hours for the shower but we managed a quick Easter with them. It was fun to make baskets for them and all of the kitties.
We took them out for coffee and to the beach for a nice morning walk.
We had brunch with them before driving them back to NYC.

We got to look at an apartment with City Girl #2 (she got it!) while we were there and I tried this Turkish salep drink made from orchid-based flour. Very interesting!

{Shopping} Spring Trader Joe's Haul

 A little Spring TJ's haul...

We grabbed a fresh basil plant for the kitchen.   It smells so good!
Some of our staples: Turkey burgers for Mr. Click and High Protein Organic Super Firm Tofu for me. We use the Beef-less Ground in a lot of recipes.
Have you ever seen the "Reserve" wines from Trader Joe's?  The highest quality (best opportunity buys) are the Diamond Reserve wines but the Platinum Reserve is one step down and still an amazing wine and deal! We always grab them if we are lucky enough to see them.
The Organic Toasted Coconut Granola is new to me and so good!
I love the TJ's candles.  Grapefruit is one of my favorites.
I got the City Girlies some Easter basket treats since they were going to be home for Easter.
Produce staples that I love and I'm still obsessed with both of the dressings.
I think these are all new to me. I'm pretty sure I haven't had the Vegetable Masala Burgers before.  They are a nice change from the other veggie burgers.
I haven't tried the  Peruvian Chimichurri Rice with Vegetables yet but I've heard good things and can't wait to try it.
The Chocolate Cheesecake Bites are the perfect size for a little sweet treat. I don't even wait for them to defrost. I like them extra cold!

What have been finding at TJ's lately?

{Travel} Birthday Weekend in NYC

We got to celebrate City Girl #1's birthday in NYC a few weeks ago.

We stayed at an old favorite, The Conrad Midtown.  I love the vibe of the hotel and the spacious rooms.

I was feeling very stripe-y in the entryway mirror.

As you can see by my hair in the above shot it was raining that day. LOTS of rain. We made our way over to meet the girls at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

We were there mostly for the Women Dressing Women Exhibit.
It was a very cool exhibit full of female designers' creations.
I didn't know a lot of them but City Girl did.
In our favorite part of the museum.
We toured around some more, soaking up all of the art.
It really is a beautiful museum and a perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon in NYC.
City Girls 1 & 2.
We had reservations at Scarpetta for dinner.   It's great for celebrating a special occasion.

The birthday girl and our yummy desserts.   After dinner we headed back to the hotel --our bellies full and our feet tired!
Waking up with some fancy coffee in the room
Another selfie before we went out for a walk.
There was sunshine!!  Our hotel was near Times Square and we walked around a bit. It's not so crazy in the morning.
We checked out of our hotel and did a little more exploring...
...before meeting up for brunch at Village Taverna with the girls.  It was close to campus and CG 1 was studying so it was a good place to meet her.
I got the vegetable moussaka...it was so good! After brunch we went to Penn Station and took the train home. Another fun birthday weekend on the books!

New Home Amazon Faves

Here are some of my favorites from Amazon that have helped us as we've moved into the new house.
As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
We got this pretty area rug for one of the bedrooms.
I tried a few different pillow covers but this one was the winner for our bed.
I got two of these duvet sets for our guest beds. They are so soft!
We used these for storing some of our daughters' things. It's nice to be able to see what's inside.

We got two of these air purifiers and might add a third. They have been working like a charm and are so quiet.  The app makes it easy to change things up and see how much life the filter has left.

I love this roll up dish drying rack! We don't have to keep a big rack on the counter or store it under the sink. It rolls up when not in use and is great for cleaning veggies too.

I've been using these oven liners for a long time. They help keep the over (and toaster oven) clean and catch any spills.
I got this 3 pack of storage bags for holiday decor. The windows are helpful to see what's inside.  Bags are so much lighter and easier to handle than the stiff plastic storage totes I used to use.

We are using these bronze shower curtain hooks in our second bath.

We have a tiny shower so we got this curved shower curtain rod to maximize the space.

This waffle weave shower curtain came in different sizes so we could get just what we needed for the stall shower.

We needed a place for our shower essentials and this 2-pack caddy has been working out great and the suction cups are holding strong.

I got this adhesive paper towel holder for the laundry room. It also has hardware if you'd prefer to hang it that way.

I needed a new jewelry storage solution and these trays hold all of my jewelry perfectly.  I can keep it in a drawer or closet so it's out of the way in my smaller space.

I had Laura from Everyday Edits' voice in my head (but too late!) that you should always put your extension cords in before your bed is moved in.  We ordered these after the fact and they've been working out great for charging and power.  They work well in tight spaces because the plug is flat.

I thought this wooden scoop would be perfect for Willow's dry food.  It's 1/4 cup measuring cup and looks nice out on the counter with her jar of food.

I wanted some coordinated but not super matchy mugs for the kitchen. Love them!

These adhesive towel hooks have been a good solution under the kitchen sink for the dish towel and in the bathroom for hand towels.
Our "new" washing machine didn't smell fresh (that's putting it mildly) so I've been trying all kinds of things to clean it.  These tablets have amazing reviews and have been helping.

One of the first things we changed out after painting the house was all of the switch plates. I liked the simple architectural detail of them.

Of course we needed the matching outlet covers as well.

I've been walking to yoga and needed a water bottle with a handle. This one came highly recommended and it's been great for keeping my water cold plus it fits in a car cup holder if I want to take it in the car.

Another thing we switched out was the porch light. This one has a dusk to dawn feature so we don't have to worry about turning it on and off every day. There's also a motion sensor and it has a plug for outdoor displays.  It made a huge difference!

These are the bulbs we got for the light.

We recently got new outdoor lights for our patio and needed something to hang them with.  I can't believe how strong these hooks are.
