MM: Christmas Anniversary Romance...Peace Challenge Style

e-Mom asks...So how do you do it? How do you keep romance alive during one of the busiest times of year?

My sweet Loverbrains and I are blessed to have a Christmas Anniversary...the 21st to be exact.  Yes, we were married by candlelight almost 7 years ago!
Our wedding was simple and elegant, if I do say so myself.  Each year at Christmas, many items from  our wedding come out to decorate our home.  This is very special and uniquely romantic.
See this musical garland...it lined the center aisle...along with pretty little lanterns that are atop my piano right now!
See these doves?  They graced the top of our wedding cake!
See that gorgeous garland?  It adorned the windows of the church, along with candles and oil lamps.
See these silken poinsettias?  Some of them were in my wedding bouquet and some were in my maid of honors.  See that little basket?  It was my flower girl's basket...it lights up...!
All these things around us help us to remember that twinkling evening years ago...when we said we'd love and comfort each other.  That we'd honor and keep each other.  In sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer, for better and for worse...cherish...forsaking all other, until we are parted by death.

I will admit that we often don't celebrate our anniversary in December...in fact this last summer we instituted the Half-versary....where my folks watched the kids overnight (in JUNE) and we reunited!  So, that's something to consider if you're thinking about a December wedding...hahaha...I just realized how very not practical this post is...I mean, what am I saying..."if you want to keep your marriage romantic at Christmastime, like mine...then go back in time and get married in December!" HAHAHA!

Well then, I guess...if you weren't married at Christmas...maybe you could just put a picture of your wedding in a prominent spot during the holidays...just to remind yourselves how much you love each other!

Smiles to you lovely ladies!  Hope your Christmas is Marry and bright!

I'm linking in with the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge too...

Here's this week's challenge: Take out your calendar and SCHEDULE a night where you will take a warm refreshing bubble bath. Bring your Bible. Read the story of the birth of Jesus in Matthew 1, 2 and Luke 1,2.

Why? Well, link on over and let Courtney explain it to you! Now, I need to explain it to my Loverbrains!  I'm laying out all my necessary supplies...I'll have a date by myself!!

What a lovely post - and what beautiful wedding mementos you have as Christmas decorations. And I love the idea of your half-versary too - that is wonderful! Thank you for sharing.

What a beautiful bride!

I know we discussed the fact that we had the same anniversary last year, but I'd forgotten until reading this post. Our 31st is coming up on the 21st. We usually just have a nice dinner out and exchange cards, but I've always loved that quiet evening in the midst of all the busy-ness wih just us two. That's a good tradition even for those not married in December, I think!

What a neat idea to incorporate some of your wedding decor into your home -- I wish I'd thought of that!

It's funny we have a December 15th anniversary. We end up having a lovely dinner and then Christmas shopping together. I guess it's a tradition now.
I too had silk pointsettas. Navy and peach, don't ask.

We have our anniversary exactly 1 month before Christmas. In fact, we asked the hall not to decorate for Christmas, so that each holiday would be separate, however, looking at your decorations I wished we had had them. I love your idea of an halfversary. Something always happens during our anniversary that it doesn't go as planned, this might stop that from happening. I'm going to talk to my husband about it right now!

I still remember your beautiful wedding. Walking up to the snow covered church with all the luminaries outside lighting our path. In fact I still have a small wood lantern with a snowflake on it that I got from your wedding, it decorates my home at christmas time. As does the decorations from my own christmas wedding. :-) We use a lot of the decor to decorate our tree and other things around the house. It will be six years for us this year. So many fun christmas/wedding memories. :-) -g

I adore how your wedding decorations are now put out yearly as your x-mas decorations!

You recommendation about putting out the wedding picture at this time of year is a good one and perhaps I will have to dig one out:)

Thanks so much for sharing!

What a beautiful way to unite two celebrations, your marriage and Christ's birth. I love how your day carries so many reminders with the doves, etc...

And yes, a beautiful bride!

After reading your post, if I could do it all over, I'd get married at Christmas!!! I love the way your wedding decor is carried forward in time as your Christmas decorations. (Now why didn't I think of that?) You were just gorgeous as a bride. Love this post Bobbi!

I made stockings out of felt the first year we were married and we used them for the first 5 years until our kids arrived. When I pull them out now, I remember that first wonderful Christmas in our tiny (awful) ground floor apartment! We were virtually newlyweds, having just married in late October.

Happy 7th anniversary my sweet friend, and thanks for joining us for Marriage Monday, today.

Merry Christmas!

P.S. I enjoyed the special remarks left by "Anonymous."

My husband has a friend who was married on Christmas Eve. The wedding was beautiful but I have always wondered about celebrating anniversaries.
