It’s not officially the start of summer until we venture over to Stone Mountain Park. This year, as attendees of their media night, it was no exception.

We made our way into the park, and headed straight into a glass blowing demonstration followed by a fudge making demonstration. There’s always a lot going on. Then, it was over to Memorial Hall for a little history of the mountain (where I learned that they originally were going to include the legs of the horses on the carving, but when a new person came on the job, he changed his plans).

That’s a big hunk of granite. Of course, the girls are always enthralled with the Bubble Man who was teaching them all about bubbles here.

B and I went inside for more history and to see some scaled models of the carving.

To give you a better idea, here she is sitting in the horse’s mouth.

While waiting for dinner, the Bubble Man stumbled on us again. You might be wondering why everybody has their mouth open? He had just showed them a trick….catching a bubble on their tongue. Despite all of the “yucks” they all tried to do it.

We don’t get to see Maria and family enough, but when these two run into each other, they hang out and I love it! They were stuck to each other pretty much the whole night. It’s nice to have people that you can reconnect with and catch right back up after not seeing each other for a couple months.

After dinner, we caught the second to the last gondola up to the top of the mountain. I’ve never been up there in the evening. It’s cooler, despite the sun and everything seems brighter. One small person decided she didn’t want in the usie.

And when a nice couple offered to take a family picture, she wasn’t too impressed, either.

Then it was time to wait for the laser show. These kids didn’t need entertainment even though there was some organized dancing a little later. They rolled and rolled and rolled down the hill. They were fast too.

Once it was finally dark enough, there were light up sticks to keep us occupied. E insisted on this selfie…can you see us? She was certain there would be enough light from the glow stick.

We had an eventful few first minutes of the laser show, and finally settled in to watch. About half way through, B was out on my shoulder and I don’t remember the last time it happened. There’s no picture because I just enjoyed it, but if I write it out, I might remember longer!

Hoping you had a great Father’s Day celebrating the dad(s) in your life, or the people that fill in for them!

What did you do this week?

GET IN THE PICTURE WITH YOUR KIDS! Who cares what you look like? Who cares how you appear? Who cares what you are wearing? JUST DO IT! Since the button code stopped working many moons ago, I took it out. But, if you are adding your link to my link list, please, as a courtesy, add a link back to my site so people can explain and link up themselves if they’d like. After all, that’s the point of the link up!

It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids.
